Are you new to Keyword Research?

Not sure what Niche is for you?

Need to learn how to keyword research?

In this post, I’m going to show you how to find keywords easily if you’re just starting out. At this point, you may not even have a Niche, or you might just be trying to come up with ideas for your latest blog post.

Please be aware that this is going to be a list, with lots of keywords and niche ideas, not a review on the Keyword Tool I am using.

This page may contain affiliate links meaning I earn a commission if you use those links. I only recommend the brands I use and trust. However, by signing up for any of them, there is no additional cost to you.

This Method Might Be For You

I have done a number of posts on Keyword Research and the tools that can be used. You can check out my posts below:

What is the Best Free Keyword Tool

Jaaxy Affiliate Keyword Tool

Are Keywords Important to SEO

Free Website Traffic – Using Trigger Words

This post is going to be about the method to find the keywords with low competition easily. In theory, it doesn’t really matter what tools you use, but for the best results possible I would suggest Jaaxy as the keyword tool.

You can also use tools like Ubersuggest or Google Keyword Planner but I found they didn’t quite show me the results in the same way as Jaaxy.

Jaaxy keyword tool

How It Works

This is going to revisit something I talked about in my Free Website Traffic post and that is Trigger Words.

These will be very generic words that can be put into the Keyword Tool Search and will come out with a lot of long-tail keyword ideas with low competition and hopefully decent traffic.

As I said earlier, it may even help you if you are trying to find a Niche – I have found them previously.

I just want to briefly explain the Jaaxy search header before we start, so you understand the results you are looking at. It’s easy to understand so don’t worry.

Jaaxy Keyword Research

  • Keyword – what users type into the search engine to find what they are looking for.
  • Avg – The average monthly searches the Keyword receives per month.
  • Traffic – The average traffic you would expect to see on your site for that Keyword Search if you rank page 1 on the Search Engine.
  • QSR – Quoted Search Results. The number of websites ranked for the exact keyword on Google – Your Competition.
  • KQI – Keyword Quality Indication. Green is Great (you always want this). Yellow is OK, Red is Poor.
  • SEO – Based on Traffic and Competition. The higher the score the more likely to rank on page 1 (scores 1 to 100). Try to score in the ’90s.
  • Domains – Availability of Domains related to the keyword.

How To Keyword Research

Now I’m going to show you how easy it is to find great keywords by just using one or two generic words.

Sit back and relax, and let’s see if this helps you with ideas – you are free to use any of them by the way.

1. How To

As I said, this is very generic but you might notice that it’s the beginning of a question that someone may ask when performing a search. Let’s check out the results:

keyword research

You might notice that there is a lot around traffic to a website and a couple of results about training puppies. Both are easy to rank for and are potential Niches too.

It’s all about finding results and then expanding on them. So if Puppy or dog training is your thing, then keep drilling down into these types of keywords – you will find loads.

You might have noticed the title of this post ‘Learn how to Keyword Research’ is in the results – I use this method a lot.

2. Affect

With this word, only one theme came up in the results but it is something that could have a lot of potential – just be careful about offering medical advice. This is not a diagnosis Niche but more of a way to help after diagnosis.

keyword research

3. Afford

Different opportunities with this one. More digging into the results and you could have a very good Niche to build upon.

Web Hosting and Business are big competitive Niches, so finding ideas around This is quite a bonus. You can earn well with Affiliate Web Hosting.

4. Allow

Again, very generic, but definitely something that can be used if this is something that relates to you. I have never looked into it but having pets myself I can imagine that taking them on holiday is something a lot of people want to do.

keywords related to allow

5. Reduce

People often want to reduce something – it appears a lot in search terms. Here are a few low competition ideas, all of which can easily have affiliate offers alongside them.

keyword suggestion

All of these are within the health niche so will be popular. Again, it’s about digging into these keywords and finding multiple phrases you can use.

6. Apply

I don’t know an awful lot about loans and scholarships, but I do know there is a lot of money within the loans and finances niche. These ideas may be a low competition way into this niche.

loan keyword

7. Attack

With one search on this word a whole potential Niche has come up in the search results. Again, be careful about how you approach this subject. But it has possibilities.

8. Avoid

9. Build

I don’t think I need to even explain the potential this one has. Anything to do with Websites or hosting can be very good earners if done the right way.

keyword search

10. Burn

Always going to be in the Health and Fitness Niche, but this has avenues into the Exercise part of it.

11. Can

A lot of different options with this one. You can even add additional words to the original so rather than just ‘Can’ you can expand with ‘How Can’, ‘Can I’ etc.keyword research

12. Care

This is the same as everything else, you have a starting point, it’s up to you to research further.

13. Compare

People always want to compare items. So this is a great keyword if you are looking at reviews etc.

14. Confirm

15. Deal

16. Do

17. Feed

I don’t know if there are affiliate programs but I’m sure you can do something with this:

18. Get

19. Lead

This one definitely is worth digging deeper into.

20. Lose

21. Make

22. Put

It turns out by searching this keyword you get a lot of results about putting. As golf is a popular niche I think these might be good options.

23. Beginner

Search terms with the word beginner within them are very popular. Whatever you niche, it’s always worth doing a search with this word.

24. Calculate

Another word that can open up some big opportunities. If someone wants to calculate something it generally means they want to do something once they work it out. Especially with loans etc.

25. Overnight

26. Secret

Everyone loves a secret.

27. Without

Everyone wants to earn money without any investment. That’s what makes this such a great word to use.

I might even look at one or two myself as the traffic is pretty good.

28. Provide

29. Pull

30. Push

This might seem an obvious one but it’s very popular.

Conclusion

There we have it, 30 words giving hundreds of ideas. It took no time at all to find these keywords.

Once you find keywords that will work for you, then the next step is to start digging deeper into them.

Always check on Google for real competition. You can find out how to do this in my What is the best Keyword Tool Post

Thanks for the information!  You covered everything with great detail.  My questions were answered before I could ask them.

There’s no question that keywords are the key component when it comes to publishing content on the internet.  Well, unless you don’t want any traffic on your site.

I’ve noticed that there are a lot of keyword research tools out there.  I personally use Jaxy as well, but I only use the basic version.  Are you familiar with the other membership options that Jaxy offers? The basic plan is great, but I’m ready to bring my own content to that next level.

    • Mark

Hi Dave, thanks for the great feedback.

I have 2 posts outlining the potential of Jaaxy that may be of interest to you. They also outline the plan options.

Personally for me, if you are a WA Premium member you have the Jaaxy Lite version, or I use the Premium nowadays. You don’t need to go to the Enterprise access.

I always make use of the Jaaxy software to research before beginning a new post on my blog. This is one of the advantages of being a premium member of Wealthy Affiliate. However, I’m still not so familiar with Jaaxy software and I want to know if it’s okay to pick a topic that has a QSR of over 90. Being that it’s my competition do you think a new blog can survive with this amount of competition?

    • Mark

Hi Louis, thanks for the feedback it’s much appreciated.

Great to see you are a premium member of Wealthy Affiliate, that’s a great choice.

Within the WA training, Kyle says to try and get the QSR under 100 which you have done. The quality of the content will be very important in 2019 as well to try and get a good ranking on the search engines.

I always aimed for under 100 QSR, but I typically try to get under 50 now if I can, but that is because I have gained more experience now.

Also, remember that it can take time for your posts to start to rank on the search engines. Early on I would definitely concentrate on getting quality posts out there and don’t worry too much on where they are.

      I hope this helps,

      Mark

Nice article! I am working on affiliate marketing myself, and I definitely know the importance of keywords! They are one of the most crucial things to consider in my opinion. They are hugely important in setting the topic of your articles that help your readers, as well as driving traffic to your posts! What would you say the most important part of a good keyword is?

    • Mark

Hi Kohl, thanks for the great comments.

For me, a great keyword, or words, is one that makes sense in the first instance. Next, I want the competition to be as low as possible as I want to try and rank on page 1. Of course, I would also like there to be decent monthly traffic, but if the keyword phrase is targeted enough I like to think the visitor has already decided they want something specific and they have come to my site to take action.

      All the best,

      Mark

    Hi Mark

Your post on how to use Keywords is really useful, and will be great for anyone who needs to learn how to do Keyword research. You show clearly how to search for keywords, and how to interpret the results that you get, which beginners often find confusing, so your help is very much appreciated.

The words which you chose to research are also extremely helpful, and can be applied to just about any niche.

Thank you so much for a most helpful and informative post.

    Chrissie 🙂

  • Chris

For the past three months I’ve been using a free keyword tool but after reading your review I realise it doesn’t have the QSR function…so I don’t know the competition I’m up against.

So, I’m going to give this Jaaxy tool a go and see if it changes my luck around – how many articles can I get out of the 30 free searches with the trial version?

    • Mark

Hi Chris, thanks for the comments.

I think it all depends on the keywords you search as to how many you will get out of the Jaaxy free trial.

If you already have your niche and you are looking for ideas for your posts then you can probably get a lot of ideas from it. Right now I could easily find 50 plus articles to write about if I do 30 searches.

Have a read of my Jaaxy review as things like Alphabet Soup may help you as well. You can find it here:

      https://startablogmakemoney.co

Whatever keywords you find, I would always advise checking them on Google as well to clarify. I go into how to do that in this post:

      https://startablogmakemoney.co

I hope this helps, and good luck with your keyword research.

      All the best,

Thank you for this very interesting and informative post. I read about how to use jaaxy for keyword search on many occasions and on many sites, but I must admit I didn’t get any full detailed explanation as the one you posted. Any time I want to search keywords through jaaxy I get confused because I don’t know what abbreviations like KQI, QSR etc stand for. I only know SEO. This get me frustrated and feel like jaaxy keywords searching tool is not made for me.

Thank you for your detailed explanation.

    • Mark

Hi, thanks for the great comments and it’s my pleasure to offer a detailed explanation of Jaaxy. I will only ever promote tools that I use and Jaaxy is my number 1 for sure.

      Alll the best,

Thanks for making this interesting review come my way, learning how to keyword research easily is very important as long as building a website is concerned and generating passive income as well. I certainly know about the jaaxy which  is an amazing tool for a keyword search because it was very easy and even a beginner would understand everything there. Highly recommended.

  • Misty Outdoors

I am new to Wealthy Affiliate and just started to do keyword research. I really appreciate the excellent resources and information you provided. I have a camping website so I really like your one word idea.  I did go to my Jaaxy tool- and went into the alphabet soup. I typed in the words can & camping. There were many new keywords generated from this.

Thank you for your excellent suggestions!

    • Mark

Hi Misty, thank you for your great comments. If you ever need any more info with keyword research I have other posts that will show you different methods

A while ago I was doing research for a post and I was checking out Amazon as a potential resource and found that Pop-Up Tents in the camping Niche were quite good. I think daypacks were another good one.

      All the very best,

      Mark
